Stop DTE Energy From Increasing Our Rates

Did you know that the Michigan Public Service Commission determines if DTE Energy and Consumer Energy will grant their request for a rate increase and pass it on to you, the consumers?

Despite windfall profits, DTE Energy is asking our public officials to approve 9% and 7% rate hikes, respectively. Michiganders already pay the highest electric rates in the Midwest with the worst outages because these companies have spent millions to ensure our regulators and legislators only work for them.

DTE and Consumers are also two of the largest funders of the politicians trying to take away the political power of Black, brown, and working-class people by making it harder for us to vote.

But we can take back our power:

  • Tell the utility commission not to let DTE or Consumers raise our rates another penny!

  • Tell them we want a public hearing from the community to make our voices heard, not just the corporate side.

  • Vote for candidates on November 8th  that will hold the utility companies accountable and fight for the rights of the people.

The Michigan Public Service Commission has announced that it will hold a public hearing in MPSC Docket No. U-20836, DTE Electric Co.’s pending request for an electric rate increase, on Monday, August 22 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
